Lake Silence by Anne Bishop

3.0

1st read: July 2020
2nd read: March 2022

I read Lake Silence again to get ready for the newest book in the series, Crowbones. It's been less than two years since the last time that I read this, but I somehow completely changed my mind about it. Apparently I liked the characters when I first read the book, but this time they seemed immature and kind of annoying. I also don't like that the characters are so similar to the original cast, because they feel like cheap knockoffs instead of characters that can stand on their own.

I don't think I'm going to continue with the World of the Others series. I still love the original series though.

Original review:

Lake Silence is a nice read. I adore The Others series, so I loved reading more about the world. I liked the characters a lot. I do wish that there was more crossover with the characters from The Others books, but maybe that's too much to ask. Overall, this was really fun.

I liked the multiple points of view in this book, but I didn't like that Vicki's chapters were in 1st person perspective and everyone else's were in 3rd. It threw me off a bit. I'd rather the author just pick one or the other.
