I am not going to lie, I was a bit disappointed in this one. Being a huge fan of the Falling Kingdom series, I had very high expectations of BS&T and unfortunately to me, it read like a very simplified, almost dumbed down-for lack of a better word-children's book.
Characters were all one dimensional, and personally I was not rooting for anyone because nobody was interesting enough. In its defense, it picked up around 50 pages from the end but still, huge plot twists just for shock value weren't enough to save it. I was distracted all the time while reading it and I found it difficult to follow, and not because it had a complex and tangled story (I wish!), but simply because it was that boring.
That being said, I will still make an attempt to read book 2 because I love Rhodes writing and I know she can do a way better job than this. Here's hoping!
