Ender's Shadow
by Orson Scott Card
This was an interesting counterpart to Ender's Game, telling the story from Bean's point of view.
Although the story managed to keep a new feel with familiar material, I'm giving it 3 stars because I felt the theology and Bible quotations were a little heavy-handed. Bean's worship of Ender towards the end felt like writings about Jesus in a scifi coat.
I would prefer sermonizing in fiction to be either transparent or absent. Instead, I felt like I was being guided or manipulated by the author. I won't be reading any more in this series.
