Smoke Gets in Your Eyes: And Other Lessons from the Crematory by Caitlin Doughty

5.0

One afternoon I stumbled upon Caitlin's YouTube Channel "Ask a Mortician." Several hours later, I become a fan girl. Actually, I become a fan girl after the very first video I watched. She sang, "the Middle Ages were magic" and I was hooked. She is endlessly entertaining and super informative in her videos. I saw she had written two books so I picked up her first one. I read this book in one sitting. I could not put it down. Caitlin has the gift of gab and the gift or engaging writing. Her wit and insight are all over this book. If you watch her video series, you will learn she is all about being death positive, which means, simply, that we must be open to dialoguing about death. This book touches on this but also is a memoir of Caitlin's beginnings into the death industry. You will learn so much and will have your mouth agape with some major surprises along the way! This book will change you, but in a positive way or Caitlin would say, "Death Positive way." Take a peek at this book, it's fabulous!
