1.5: disappointing & misleading. The jacket implies a plot that truly never develops, and it has serious pacing issues.
Just a couple quaint little characters that amble on in their vague, pretentious lives for 500 pages, that were meant to carry cosmological gravitas… somehow. Oh, and there are some mad scientists for a bit in the beginning that aren’t mad enough to stay interesting, or quaint enough to be main characters (I can only assume that’s the criteria.)
To say that I don’t understand the hype would be an understatement.
