A slowly unfurling story where the plot is revealed slowly and the twists and turns are hinted at only to be proven wrong and replaced with another scheme.

This is a long build of a novel but with great payoff and intrigue.  It comes to a satisfying end while leaving plot threads dangling to be solved in the next book, but isn’t a cliffhanger. A rare trait these days.
