The Crime Writer by Gregg Hurwitz

3.0

An interesting mystery with enough red herrings and possible suspects to make it difficult to see the culprit clearly early on. The gripping question of what the main character, Drew, did on the night his ex-fiancee died is a wonderful second mystery to be chipping away at.

Overall, the writing is good. Not nearly as strong as the Orphan X novels, but this was written much earlier. There are some scenes, though, that I skimmed because of the endless navel-gazing. One such is a pages-long critique of all the young Hollywood hopefuls waiting to get inside of clubs. (How did that not get edited down? Ugh.)
