This Time It's Real
by Ann Liang
This book. Oh my gosh, this book.
It was beautiful and sweet and crazy and everything I could ever ask for from a rom-com. The humor was right up my alley, and even though it does use some of the cliche tropes and lines I've seen in other books like this before, there's something...different about this one. I can't quite put my finger on it.
I think one of the things I really liked was that Eliza did some of the legwork in the relationship too (the cranes, taking care of him when he was sick) and it wasn't just Caz pulling all the BRGs. I know there are dozens of other books I've read where this has happened, but this was the first I've actually noticed in a while so yeah :D
(Also I headcanon Eliza as demisexual please and thank you)
Either way, it was a wonderful read that really helped get me out of my slump. I would've finished it in one sitting if it weren't for the fact that it was past midnight when I'd finished half of it :P
One last thing to mention: I judged this book by its cover. It definitely subverted my expectations, but in the best way possible, and I am so glad that it did.
