Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson

Did not finish book.
Through another author, I thought I was ready to read this narrative in the voice of the second person.

There are advantages to reading from the point of view of the second person: the story is being told from the uninvolved perspective, the reader gets an 'unbiased' view of the situations and characters (as it almost as if the second person is your interpreter), and also to get a more objective view of setting.

And still there are instances where second person narration can veer into the overly expressive, grandiose, overdone prose used in filling in spaces and relaying interactions.

For me the relation of this love story lost the intimacy and vulnerability that comes with first person narration, which would have been welcome in spite of its flaws.
