Miles Morales: Spider-Man
by Jason Reynolds
Spider-man has been one of my favorite superheroes since I was an elementary school kid reading the comics off of the shelf at my local store. However, I grew up with Peter Parker rather than Miles Morales. However, as a father of African American children, I am overjoyed with Miles Morales. I want there to be more heroes which reflect the diversity of our country and world. Specifically, I am thrilled that there are superheroes that my son and daughter can see themselves in.
That being said, I do not know Miles as well, and I found him endearing, realistic, and entertaining in this book. If this is the Miles Morales Spider-man, I want more of him. I hope that Jason Reynolds continues to write Miles stories the way that Margaret Stohl has done a great job with the Black Widow tales. This book does a great job of dealing with what it is like to be a teenager and different. What it is like to be poor in a building that feels as if it is filled with better-off kids. I really enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end, and it was a quick read. So pick it up already!
PS: Could we get a Spider-Gwen novel and a Silk novel somebody?
