An unbelievably harrowing post-apocalyptic journey, and both an unflinching exploration of human evil, and a reminder of human goodness. McCarthy's stream-of-consciousness writing robs the reader of the comfort of distance. You are there with the man and his son as they suffer and as they experience their rare triumphs. Almost unrelentingly bleak, but a good experience for those who can stomach it
