A Single Man
by Christopher Isherwood
challenging
emotional
reflective
sad
slow-paced
George's POV is one of the most fascinating and tender I've ever read. He grieves very deeply but he's also so full of love and gratitude for everything. I really liked the monologues George makes, especially his last ones with Kenny. I'll always be sad that up until the end he was so determined to keep living a happy life while still holding on to Jim's memory and his love for Jim :"-(
This book can get a little weird with the way it talks about non-white/male minorities imo. For me that wasn't a dealbreaker but it definitely put me off fully reading some of George's early speeches. But overall this was so good URGH. If I had a penny for every time I read a queer book with a stunning exploration of grief I would be so goddamn wealthy
