World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil

Did not finish book. Stopped at 25%.
I will say that the illustrations in this book are absolutely lovely, even in e-reader form.  However, they were unfortunately my favourite part of the book.  I was looking forward to "a collection of essays about the natural world, and the way its inhabitants can teach, support, and inspire us," but that is not what I got -- very little about this book is about the natural world.  Though each chapter is named for a species of plant or animal, the focus is very much on the author's life, with the plants/animals feeling very peripheral and not at all like "astonishments."  To be clear, the author's life is not uninteresting; I am just disappointed that the book's contents do not match its description.
