Why Him? Why Her?: Understanding Your Personality Type and Finding the Perfect Match by Helen Fisher

3.0

I am evidently a NEGOTIATOR/Explorer (emphasis Fisher's as the capitals indicate my predominant character supported by the secondary character). Odd combination, in my opinion, which possibly explains why I am a bit scattered in terms of relationships. Completely giving and generous, understanding and reeling in possibilities of a long-lasting partnership, I am extremely independent and find myself enjoying brief encounters as I move on to the next fancy. When I love, I love deeply, but insist on retaining the part of myself that likes adventure and who dislikes making things too complicated (although I can dissect a relationship to pieces).

Ok...this is not a "how do I save a relationship" book. Furthermore, I would not exactly characterize this as a self-help book. Fisher is not giving relationship advice, necessarily. She is using biology with sociology and psychology to explain why we are attracted to some individuals and not others. She fully realizes that our past influences our present in terms of connection and chemistry. All in all, love largely remains a toss up. However, Fisher does give good indication of who we are and how our personalities mesh (or do not mesh) with other personalities. It is a very quick, easy read...and a bit fun.
