Saga of the Swamp Thing by Alan Moore
5.0

When Moore's treatment first came out I was in 6th grade and had collected the title briefly just because I was obsessed with Berni Wrightson's art. I never got into Moore's shift until I was much older. Over time I ended up losing track of the issues I had acquired. Recently I decided to pick the TP editions of this classic and even though the art is definitely a creature of its time the writing and invisible hand of the Magus involved with the layout of each page is apparent. This is Moore in prime form. Every page and panel establishes a pace and patter which hypnotizes the reader just as effectively as any film editor can. Ecologically sensitive, mystical, quirky, downright weird in spots, and utterly enjoyable.
