The story is very original and the world-building is great, but it didn't suck me in like I would have wanted. But maybe I was just not in the right mood for this genre. I could definitely see me in the future reading the rest of the novellas of this series, out of curiosity.

The ending didn't seem very realistic for the fact that the university almost immediately agreed to the Meduse's terms and there were no consequences for the fact that they killed all the students on the ship, and the university leaders instead invited the Meduse to be a scholar kind of out of nowhere. I would have understood them acting like this if this whole new sci-fi world had been built to be a more understanding future, but everyone is still bigoted and prejudiced like in our current world, so it didn't make much sense to me. That part specifically felt underdeveloped, but in general the story was a bit rushed and had a few of unexplored and underdeveloped plot points.
