She THICC...and DENSE...and very different than my usual, but it has actually and audibly made me gasp more than a few times!

It's really well written and the world RF Kuang has created is fascinating. It's an incredibly rich and well researched foray into the origins of language and the abilities of the Oxford scholars who study in the Tower of Babel, the world's epicenter for translation, and their unwitting participation in the monopolization of power and British colonization. I'm not usually a fantasy reader, but the fantastical elements that are interwoven were clever and unexpected.
