I’ve read most of Liane Moriarty’s books but I must say this was probably my least favourite. I wouldn’t say I actively disliked it but it seemed to lack the drama and drive that her other novels have.

I also started to see parallels between character in other books, like I saw elements of Grace from The Last Anniversary in Lynn and elements of Madeline from Big Little Lies in Cat and to some extent, Gemma. Similarly I could see elements of Abigail from Big Little Lies in Cara. I don’t know exactly, but it just felt kind of same-y.

This isn’t a direct criticism of this book in particular but it also made me aware of how white-washed (and straight) Moriarty’s books are. In all the books I’ve read, I can only think of one explicitly non-straight main character and not sure I could name a single non-white main character from any of the books I’ve read.
