I was drawn to the North Carolina, particularly the Biltmore Estate, setting. I love when an author picks some little mystery from history (in this case the Vanderbilt wedding veil that was passed down and worn for generations then just disappeared!) and builds a “what if” story. More fiction than history but it’s an enjoyable, light read.
