I didn’t particularly care for the prose until we got to the second chapter. I certainly felt the tension in the room so to speak with the breaking of boundaries. I now understand that the clinical nature of the author’s writing in the first half is to reflect a sort of inhumanity attached to the soldiers and their ruthless actions.
