The Witch King by H.E. Edgmon

5.0

This is the best book I’ve read this summer. I really enjoyed the main character and his uncommon arc; he definitely is a protagonist who operates in shades of grey. However, he ultimately isn’t a bad person, and his actions and desires matter in the plot beyond defining his moral rigor.

I appreciated the fact that he didn’t have to give up who he was in order to accept responsibility for the world around him. I feel that there are a lot of fantasy plots like this where someone eventually acquiesces to being a passive ruler, having children for someone else’s desires, etc. I am glad the plot took a different direction.

I was thoroughly entertained and took a lot out of this novel.
