my main takeaway from butter is that you’ve got to let your suspension of disbelief kick in: once you realise the style the author is going for, you’ve got to be willing for it to just. sweep you away, somewhat. you’ve really got to give yourself over to everything that’s happening, and as someone who has a very easy time with that, it’s not too surprising i loved this as much as i did - and it also makes sense to me why it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea, either. this is the EXACT style of thriller i like; one where the slow burn is there, yes, and by god is it slow, but all of it is on purpose. and even better, every now and again, that tiny bit of horror pokes its head out and jolts you back into the present. more of this pls.
