Fullmetal Alchemist, Vol. 5

4.5
Okay, can I just say, Winry really stole this volume. She's such a young girl, but she's so strong in the face of how cruel the world has been to her. She still has it in her to laugh, smile and she's really passionate about her craft. She's got some growing to do, just like the brothers and I really like her character.
We also meet the boy's teacher, Izumi, who's another excellent character. I WILL say, she's a "tough love" teacher, which is exaggerated in typical manga fashion. But I can't help it, she's such a BAMF, and so unique for a female character, especially growing up.
I did find the rush valley to be a tad TOO haha comedic, but the conclusion really won me over. Excited for the series' big flashback to conclude in the next volume.
