I adored this book. I've always loved fairy tales and myths, this book of course isn't anything like a fairy tale but it reminds me of a long forgotten myth in some ways. The world within this book is vivid and haunting. I just love the descriptions of the different chimeras. This book seems to be almost poetry sometimes by the way it describes things. The author draws you in with the different characters and when one of them gets hurt you worry or get angry. She makes you connect with them in way that seems impossible since they are so different from ourselves. But she touches on the deepest emotions like a shared fear or a simple happiness and uses it to make you sympathize with the characters. This book is disturbing but magical. It is a amazing book that measures up to the first book in every way and may be even better.
