The Keeper Chronicles by J.A. Andrews

5.0

Keeper Chronicles by JA Andrews starts off well and gets better by the book.

The style reminds me of classic fantasy, but with a fresh tone and voice to it, and not as predictable as a lot of the older books are.

The best comparison in my eyes are the Riyria books by Michael J Sullivan, as Andrews also managed to write books that are definitely meant for an adult audience, and have high stakes, but don't need graphic gore or sex scenes to accomplish that.

The focus is on how things like war affect the characters instead of the actual wounds. So while there is plenty of action and fighting, it's not at all a grimdark story.

There's death and sorrow in these books, but there's plenty of light and hope to balance it. So you end up with an epic fantasy that is quite a rollercoaster of a story, but in the end leaves you feeling good and well entertained, even if it's not all roses and sunshine, and not everyone makes it to the end.

I love these characters and the banter and friendships between them! So I wholeheartedly recommend this series.

PS the audio bundle is freaking brilliant!
