The second book picks up right after the events of the first book and while I thought the story is very well put together, I do think the first third of the book could have been shortened. It felt very repetitive to the first book and isn't until the mountain part that I really felt like the story was taking off. I did really enjoy the character development and the added dimensions to Maerad's character. A few more puzzle pieces slide into place. I am keen for the next one because it focuses on her brother's story!
