We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

I was instantly drawn into this story, it's written extremely well. However, it quickly becomes tiresome. The main family is so godawful it's hard to look past. Towards the middle of the story, the family story gets explained in a much more coherent way that gives you an ounce of sympathy for them but by the end it's shattered again. The twist was pretty simple to guess and I was able to fairly early on. Also, not sure about the meaning behind it? Like you can forgive your racist, conniving family as long as they can forgive your grand arsonist murder??
