The Girl Who Drank the Moon
by Kelly Barnhill
I absolutely loved this book. It was a full, intricate world that reminded me of Uprooted. Although the story is much more innocent and Luna, a lot younger. The protagonist role spans 4 characters whose lives eventually intersect at the zenith of the story.
Luna and Xan's relationship was the key thread throughout the story, and the touching adoptive grandmother-daughter link was written superbly. I was 100% invested in these characters, and yes - totally sobbed at the end. For the loss of particular characters and the end of a wonderful adventure.
Definitely recommend to everyone ages 10+. Younger could also read it but may miss the intricacies of the characters and plot.
