Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young

Now that I've reached the end, I understand what the author was trying to do with all the insta-love, the odd glances at Elias and Audrey, the staff's fear of Kenneth... Still, it didn't really work for me, because I plainly got bored and annoyed at the romantic cliché, which I see has been most everyone's problem with the book. The beginning was great, the ending was nice; but what was inbetween... Failed to live up to the expectations created by the first 10%. Audrey was half Mary Sue, half wannabe badass, so I never really felt sympathy towards her--I simply watched the story unfold through her eyes, without ever feeling for her. I didn't really get her dad, either, he was just... There... Sometimes? Daniel was a good boy, and surprisingly enough, the one I felt the most sympathy for was Catherine. Elias' dislike of her was so early and convenient for the lovestory, I immediately took her side. Overall the book wasn't that bad to entertain myself in the train, but I highly doubt I'll remember even reading it by this summer.
