Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
5.0
though i’ve heard of these books for years, i never wanted to read them until i watched “anne with an e” and fell in love with this story. a lot of it is different, but i was surprised to see so much of it changed. (and yes i 100% cried like a baby at the end, okay?) however, i do wish we saw more of anne’s time at queens, especially since her time away from green gables was cut so short.
as i’ve said before, i wish i read this when i was younger. i see so much of my younger self in anne. i’m an only child and let my imagination run, like, A LOT and i felt like an outsider for most of my life. while the feeling of loneliness wasn’t as present in the book as it was in the show, i still felt really connected to her. i love the characters and the land of green gables. it was easy to love this story, and i wish i read it sooner and i can’t wait to see what happens next.
