The Third Hotel by Laura van den Berg

3.0

Good book for a group discussion — interesting themes on reality, grief, and relationships. The main character, however is weird. So weird in fact that she’s entirely unrelatable. And the weird things about her aren’t just quirks. She’s not the manic pixie in Garden State or a tragically strange Wes Anderson character. Her weirdness almost seems to substitute for depth or an actual personality. In the end, interesting concepts, decent writing, boring/alien main character.
