Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica
3.0

3.75⭐️ read for me. I liked part one better, even though some of the gruesome details were probably a little unnecessary. I think if you know anything about plot or have read enough, you catch on to Marcos as an unreliable narrator pretty early, especially given that he never really explains what his take on ✨special meat✨ is, so you kind of have to put the pieces together. If you don’t know anything about plot and fully trusted Marcos, I’m sure the end was surprising and probably added a level of unexpected depth.

Cool take on cannibalism, I just think there was too much world building for such a small book, which made the plot harder to follow and stay fully entertained. If it were a 3-400 page book, I probably would have given it closer to 5⭐️ because the execution would have been properly carried out and the raunchier bits would have been more punchy.
