Mallory, Big Mac's newfound daughter, decides to live on Gansett so she can learn more about her new family. She meets Quinn, a veteran and doctor, who has moved to Gansett to be near his brother and to run the new care facility his brother's wife is building. Both Mallory and Quinn have issues (lots of issues - really too much), but they find each other attractive and decide to try a summer romance that quickly morphs into the real thing.
I enjoyed Mallory and Quinn's story, but I had a few issues with some of the writing. I understand that this is the sixteenth book in the series and it's necessary to give some backstory for new readers so they know who the vast array of characters are, but probably half of this book was repetition from the older books. I found this very tedious because I wanted more of this story. I also get that Mallory is excited about her father, but the constant marveling about every little think Big Mac does also became a little wearying. I love the McCarthy's, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as some of the others.
