alright. this book.
soooooo i know i said i was gonna read iron heart next but i needed a distraction and this book was my most anticipated release of 2021 basically because 1. sapphic enemies to lovers and 2. LOOK AT THAT COVER. anyways my hopes were high for this book. and i liked it. but hskskskakaka i wish the whole book had been like the last 30 pages, not even the romance. i wish the enemies part had been more entertaining, since that was like the whole book yk. i wish that it had focused less on the fantasy yip yap and more on the romance. like i literally do not care about marlena whatsoever. actually scratch that you care about none of the side characters at all, they’re all annoying. BUT OKAY some things that i liked: wren and tamsin. tamsin literally has my whole heart, (partially because she reminds me of nyssa ah ghul) ANYWAYS also wren is the sweetest babe i love her so much, i ADORED the last 30 some odd pages and the flow of that i appreciated more than the rest of the book, if that makes sense. SO, the book. read it, if you like fantasy you’ll love this book (i don’t particularly, so my opinion here is essentially useless) but buy this book because goddamn that cover is stunning. i’d go as far as to say that cover is my favorite book cover. oh also i’m super impatient but i love enemies to lovers so it kinda all comes down to whether or not the enemies part is entertaining & tbh that was one of my issues; the enemies part was boring.
