She went on to set too high a bar so it wasn't fair reading two of her other series first and then this one. Of course the world-building was amazing and there were plenty of elements I loved, but there were some elements that were just not as good as her later works. I did like the sequel better but also had similar issues with it. Overall glad to have read it, but the Broken Earth series is still my favorite and the Great Cities series is still my second favorite.
