As I have seen the TV version of this, I figured I would give the books a try! Although her personality is the same, they aged her down and modernised it a bit to be set at the time the show was made.
I quite liked the idea of the story but felt quite dated. I liked the character development of Agatha throughout the book as it wasn't a complete change from gruff and rude to the total opposite. But opened her up to be possibly likable character in the future.
I know this was set in the early 90s/coming out of the 80s but how Roy wasn't gay is crazy. It was implied, or at least read that his "friend" was his boyfriend. they seemed like a good couple so was very confused when he started dating a girl? I would like to think maybe he was bisexual but I don't think that would have been a common thing to include in a cosy mystery back then (even today people seem either straight or gay).
I think I might stick to the tv show
