chronotis 's review for:
Against Empathy: The Case for Rational Compassion
by Paul Bloom
I had very high hopes for this book. It is academic fashion these days to argue that reason doesn't have a big role to play in moral thinking. I think that is a mistake and I was hoping this book would provide more ammunition against that view. It does do this to some extent, but I was hoping it would go into more depth. I recommend the book, but I am less enthusiastic about it then I might have been because I had higher expectations for what it would do.
