Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett is the perfect cozy fantasy read! If your aesthetic is light academia, Victorian era vibes, then I think you'll enjoy this book . There is romance but without explicit sex scenes or long, drawn out pining. As with the rest of the book, the romance is cozy and sweet and the story moves at a steady pace.

Emily Wilde is a researcher and academic who has dedicated her life to studying the Folk (better known as Faries or Fae). She travels to a remote, northern Island to study an elusive species of Farie. Unfortunately, her nemesis Wendell Bambleby also shows up, not wanting to let all the credit go to Emily. As Emily and Wendell learn to navigate the bitterly cold terrain and even colder townsfolk, they are caught up in something much bigger than simple research.

Aside from the cutest story line and wonderful cast of characters, Heather Fawcett's writing in this book is largely the reason it gains five stars. It's tremendously difficult to write wit well (say that ten times fast) and Heather NAILS it. Wendell's wit and humor kept me chuckling throughout the book.

This is book one in a three book series and I'm excited to dive into book two!
