Often I find that elemental-focused stories/characters are rather boring or lack general intrigue beyond the use of the power, however, this book took me by surprise.
For starters, the FMC is not only fierce in her human capabilities, but she is headstrong which results in her refusing to back down from danger and continuously standing up for what she deems is right.

I loved that as the elemental characters were introduced, the reader got to experience their POV's throughout the story. They are severely flawed, however, they bring an array of personalities, quirks, and backstories that I found enjoyable to read.
I did predict some of the main twists, but I feel as if the author wasn't trying to hide it too well either.
Overall, a very fun and pleasant read. I look forward to reading more of this series and this author.

If you're looking for a good place to start with a lighter fantasy feel, and swoon-worthy (no spice) characters, I recommend Long Live.
