some parts were too much of the author’s opinion through the characters but i did like the ideas expressed around class and sex. it was a super interesting discussion, and i could not get my head around the fact that it was written in the 20s. this was pretty eye-opening.
i was somewhat disappointed that more of the sexual discovery was not exactly through Connie’s perspective but I did think that we got a good share of her character/sexual development as well as Mellors’.
the writing was quite nice, and not at all difficult to read. i liked the characters and the drama as well as the broader themes of the novel.
this was a solid book, with lots that i did like about it. would recommend to most people because i feel it is different to other things i have read, especially for its time.
