Socialism: Utopian and Scientific
by Friedrich Engels
informative
slow-paced
It starts off kind of slow, with the evolution and role of religion in politics and whatnot? But it gets going towards the second part, where Engels explains how bourgeoisie came into power and took over the means of production from Aristocracy.
Looking at history through who holds the means of production is very interesting and really show you how and why major political events happened when they happened.
It is a really good introduction to socialist ideas and also showed me just how much misinformation is there regarding it. It is a very important read for anyone caring about politics and economy, even if you don’t agree with Socialist ideas.
But the language is dry and verbose as you’d expect from an old philosopher. Amazing that workers of at the time understood any at all.
