It took me about 200 pages to actually get into this book. I did not like the use of Hasina's letters over an extended period of time to signal a time change, there are definitely better ways to do that. The tone seemed different depending on where in the book I was--by that, I mostly mean that some of it was well-written, and some of it was just...not. Also, the narrative voice changed a few times. I'm not sure if that was a typo, but it bugged me.

Overall, an interesting novel about the immigrant experience, but it wasn't a very good read, and most of the outcome was predictable.
