I love Middle East–inspired fantasy stories. The setting here is lush and beautiful, and the world is genuinely intriguing—rich with history, politics, and atmosphere. The story had me fully captivated.
The only thing that fell a little short for me were the characters. I liked them, but their interactions often felt surface-level, and their conversations lacked depth—especially surprising given the length of the book. I’m not sure why that is, because the writing overall is strong. So… why not put that same care into the character work?
Still, I’m definitely looking forward to the second book—hopefully we’ll get more development on that front.
