No Longer a Gentleman by Mary Jo Putney
2.0

Apparently if you torture a handsome, fit young philanderer, then leave him to rot for 10 years in a dungeon with a compassionate priest in the neighboring cell, you end up with an incredibly attractive, compassionate, loving, & selfless man, who can accomplish with very little training the same acrobatic & sleuthing feats of the female spy who has been practicing her craft every week for the same period of time.

I will say this: I believed entirely that he didn't forget any of his masterful techniques for pleasing the ladies, AND the cover illustration did make the female spy look like a woman who could disguise herself as a conservative matron twice her age with nothing more than drab clothing and some middy hair coloring.

At this point I'm just chugging through the set of stories to complete it. This wasn't my favorite, though.
