Lackluster writing style is balanced out to some degree by an interesting concept that encourages a lot of self-reflection on the reader's part. I wish I could give it a higher rating, but there were just too many instances where I found myself wishing that I could just re-write the entire book, because I could make the prose suck less, without even trying.
