Five Men Who Broke My Heart: A Memoir by Susan Shapiro

3.0

Sue Shapiro decides to seek out five old boyfriends and chit-chat with them about their lives now and what went wrong all those years ago. Her somewhat absent husband is side-lined throughout most of the book, coming in every now and then leaving you wondering if he'll have a bigger part in the story somehow. There are lots of flashbacks to the times she was dating each man and she describes some common relationship problems and habits. It's a bit of self-discovery and comedy rolled into one...after all she gives each of them a nickname and then you get to find out why that one was for them. It's a pretty quick read, not too full of character development or an actual storyline, but enough to keep your attention...it's by no means as good as "Straight Up and Dirty".
