The Law of Moses by Amy Harmon
5.0
Another Amy Harmon book = another five star read! I am constantly amazed at the quality she continues to bring us with every story. The characters are deep and diverse, the plots are unique and original, the romances are always spectacular. I have yet to be disappointed, even on the rare occasion that I pick one up thinking that that particular book isn’t going to be my jam. Every time, I’ll say it again, every. single. time. it becomes my jam, it is exactly what I expect and crave from Amy. It satisfies and cleanses my bookish palate, leaving me sated, yet hungry for more.
I had put off reading The Law of Moses for awhile thinking it wouldn’t hold my attention as much as her historical fictions do. But was I happy to be proved wrong. This is not your typical romance. The story centers on Moses, his ability to see people who have passed on, and the occurrences of missing girls around his town. As Moses tries to make sense of his gift/curse and life in general, he forms a bond with Georgia. A bond he doesn’t want to admit. He doesn’t want to love because everyone he loves leaves or dies. When GG dies Moses is taken away and loses contact with Georgia. After years apart, they meet unexpectedly one day and neither acknowledges the reunion. The next day Moses awakens to a young boy from the other side. As Moses begins putting together the pieces he realizes he must find Georgia again.
Be prepared, this story is full of danger, suspense, and gut wrenching pain. This is the first book of two with an additional companion novel. All three can be read as standalones but they are best enjoyed in order. The next book was an absolute favorite of mine. You get to know Tag, and I promise he is someone you want to know more about.
I also highly recommend the audio!
