The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

2.0

After some consideration, I decided to rate this with a 2.5 stars.

I'm so very disappointed, having read and loved two other books by this author... but there were just too many things I can't overlook.

It did have a lot of good moments, too. I was enjoying reading this, I was laughing, Clark was cute, the dogs were super cute, it was entertaining... You know, the usual light, fun summer read I always expect of Morgan Matson.

But then, there were little things: the writing was a sloppy in some parts, the transition between scenes were awkward and sometimes confusing (I find myself quite a few times wondering if I missed a page or something) and there were some things that were plain unrealistic:
SpoilerFamous writer at fourteen? c'mon now. And the fact that at the end, he wrote a book about them? Excuse me, what was that?

And the cherry on top of the cake was
SpoilerBRI AND TOBY, WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT? I can't even with that plot. I was almost sure that Wyatt liked Bri but I never expected Bri to act like that! I mean, good luck Bri and Toby were the best of friends because imagine if they weren't. Good lord. And the way all of the other characters handle that situation was horrible, my God... that whole plot was a mess, it take A LOT from the book. I hate, HATE when friendships ends because of a romantic interest. I really hope it was worth it to Bri the whole TWO MONTHS they were together -_-

I do not recommend this book. If you want to try Matson, go and have a really good time reading Since You've Been Gone and Second Chance Summer.
