Collateral by Natasha Knight

5.0

Some authors bring it with every release, and no matter what book I have listened to, Natasha Knight consistently brings it on! This first book in the Collateral Damage series is amazing. It's not your typical mafia romance! Stefan Sabbioni has seeking some revenge on the Marchese family, and what better way than to marry Gabriela? This story is full of intrigue, heartbreak, and a slow burn that is smoldering! Knight with her intricate plots includes so much, weaving a plot that kept me coming back for more. The family dynamic is brutal, one minute thinking there may be hope, only to hear something so tragic, it breaks your heart. Gabriela is a strong willed woman, and promises to be an evenly matched adversary to Stefan, though he is much more confident in his abilities. Stefan, though dark and brooding has a compassionate side that we are seeing glimpses of. The story leaves us on a major cliffhanger, just ramping up the anticipation for the next book in the series! I can't wait to see where these two end up, and how they get there. There is going to be some major shakedowns and I am excited!

Knight casts her stories with care, and this team chosen could not have been better picked. Wen Ross can be the romantic alpha, and in the next breath, give Stefan an evilness not rivaled by any other. He adds in that occasional chuckle that is swoonworthy! Mackenzie Cartwright adds so much to depth to Gabriela. I love her way of adding attitude and fierceness to her personality without losing the naivete! It's so good!
