“Meet the devil” is exactly what this book is, however for me on a personal level this is revisiting a childhood experience where I felt most of these eerie, and terrifying moments in the safety and comfort of my own bedroom as i would have night terrors. Not very safe or comfortable after that.
This book, had it not made me uncomfortable to read at night and make me checking the depths darkness of the corner of my room, looking into my closet and fearing what was behind me on my trip to the bathroom at night. I definitely would have been able to read it in one sitting. However, that was not the case.
It did exactly as it should, it freaked me out, kept me on the edge of my seat, and was an absolute page turner. Every chapter had me thinking about everything. “What had Jack done?” and “Is Charlie lost forever?” or “Oh my god, Jack just tell your wife the truth, stop gaslighting her!” Had me fuming.
A form of Mr.Scratch lives in the back of my mind, restricting me of sleep and keeping my thoughts paralyzed in fear. Absolutely fabulous book.
